Lincoln Decorative & Fine Arts Society

Lincoln Decorative and Fine Arts Society

Lincoln DFAS is affiliated to The Arts Society, formerly NADFAS, which was launched in 1968 by Patricia Fay with 11 societies and has expanded to over 360 societies in the UK with 90,000 members, 10 societies in Europe, and 7 in New Zealand. There is a sister organisation in Australia with 35 or more societies

The Arts Society promotes and helps to preserve the arts through lectures, events, study days, visits and tours, at National, Area and Society level. The Arts Society includes voluntary activities helping to maintain historic buildings, recording churches and their contents, and developing the arts for the young.  The Arts Society lecturers all have exceptional skills and knowledge within their particular subjects and come from a variety of backgrounds such as universtities, museums and galleries.

The Lincoln DFAS programme runs from October to July with 9 meetings over 10 months (we do not have a meeting in January).  Lectures take place on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7.30 pm in the Lecture Theatre in the Robert Hardy Building at Bishop Grosseteste College.

Our objective, through lectures and visits, is to broaden members’ knowledge and enjoyment of the decorative and visual arts. Society membership is for those with artistic interests of all ages, and is an excellent way to meet and make friends with those with similar interests.

If you are interested in finding out more, please contact our membership secretary, Dianna Broadmeadow, tel: 01507 354288. We currently do not have a waiting list.  Our membership fee is £48.00 which includes 9 lectures and four NADFAS magazines a year.  Guests are welcome at our meetings although we appreciate a donation of £7 towards our meeting costs and notification of guests attending should be given prior to the meeting to our Membership Secretary.
